Beds Without Lifting Mechanisms
Some online bed manufacturers offer models without lifting mechanisms, requiring two people to raise and lower the bed for use and storage.

Before you purchase a Murphy Bed, especially online, please consider this important information:
Murphy & Panel Beds without Lifting Mechanisms
There are online Murphy Bed manufacturers that are promoting their beds without any type of lifting mechanisms, to most likely, lower their total costs. Couple this with the fact that 2 people are needed to raise and lower the platform panel and mattress to use/store the bed. These realities make the idea of safe and easy operation genuinely questionable at the very least.

Murphy & Panel Bed Mattress Supports
You may or may not know that Murphy & Panel beds do not use traditional bed box springs. Panel beds function as platform pull-down beds and the wooden face panels support the mattress when used. Murphy Beds have bi-fold doors (wooden face panels) that fold then swing-out when open and utilize a steel frame with wooden slats or a wooden slat platform (bunky board) to support the mattress when used.

Pistons vs Spring Mechanisms
If you're considering purchasing a Murphy or Panel bed online with hydraulic pistons, in most cases, the hydraulic pistons will lose their strength over time, especially if the Murphy/ Panel bed is not used regularly. The piston O-rings probably will leak and cannot be adjusted like spring lift mechanism systems. Pistons must be replaced entirely and this can be a dangerous undertaking if you decide to perform the repairs yourself.

It is NOT recommended to use traditional flat bed mattresses in a Murphy or Panel bed. Instead, a specially designed vertical storage mattress is ideal and made to prevent and withstand slumping while being stored on-end for extended periods of time. This new type of mattress now offers premium comfort.

If you decide to purchase your new Murphy or Panel bed online, we strongly recommend having it professionally installed. Please remember that your product could receive damages during shipment. Also, specific tools & instructions along with great care must be implemented so that personal injury doesn't occur because of improper installation while using.
